Dear Hillside Family,
The Lord has blessed our church family with countless stories of changed
lives, restored marriages, freedom from addictions, and people finding the
purpose for living that only Jesus can provide. Since our move to our new
location at the intersection of Hillside and Soncy, we have seen incredible
growth. Many people have given their lives to Christ and been baptized.
Hundreds of new people have joined Hillside and found a place filled with God's
incredible grace! Because of this growth, we have an opportunity to make a
huge difference in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle!
The elders and staff of Hillside Christian Church have been continually
asking the question, "What do we need to do next in response to God's moving in
our church?" We have been asking what God would have us do to reach the
next person, the next leader, the next dad, the next mom, the next grandparent,
the next child, and the next student.
Psalm 71:17-18
17 Since my youth, O God, you have taught me,
and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
18 Even when I am old and gray,
do not forsake me, O God,
till I declare your power to the NEXT generation,
your might to all who are to come.
Because of the growth and because we believe God is calling us out to
reach the next generation with the gospel, we will be leading out in a 24-month
capital stewardship campaign called NEXT. The NEXT campaign's goals are to
expand our facilities, pay down significantly on our debt, and impact our
community and the world through missions giving.
As you read through this special issue of CORE magazine, you will find out
more about NEXT. I hope these pages will be a great place for information
that will answer any questions you might have and lead you toward the same
excitement and enthusiasm your elders and staff are experiencing in regards to
our future together! I am asking you to plan, prioritize, pray, prepare
and participate at the highest possible level to impact others with the gospel
of Jesus Christ. My greatest prayer is that we at Hillside would be known
as a generous church with both our faith and our resources!
So that people far from God will be filled with the life in Christ,
