QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q/ What is NEXT?

A/ NEXT is a two-year giving program which will allow Hillside to keep changing lives, leading people into growing relationships with Jesus Christ.

Q/ What is NEXT not?

A/ NEXT is not an effort to hound you for money. We will not be calling you and exerting undue pressure to attend events or to make a commitment. We will not be spending money on a professional fundraiser to create an organization that would burden the ongoing ministries of Hillside. We will communicate with you openly and honestly, primarily in worship services. This Core Magazine is our primary resource for information about NEXT. Keep it handy, as we will refer to it often in worship services.

Q/ What is the plan?

A/ Funds received from NEXT will enable us to enlarge our Soncy facilities and at the same time, reduce our current debt and fund our missions and multi-site vision for the Panhandle of Texas and the world.

Q/ Will we incur any new debt?

A/ Absolutely not! In fact, we will reduce our current debt as you bring your NEXT gifts.

Q/ What is the cost of the building project?

A/ The initial estimate for construction of all phases comes in at $9,680,000. Construction will begin and continue only as NEXT funds are received.

Q/ What can I do?

A/ You can begin now by praying to know and do God’s will concerning your financial commitment to this program. Spend time in prayer and meditation on God’s Word as you seek to discover His will. Take part in our Prayer Walk and Prayer Vigil. The amount He leads you to give will be the right amount (2 Cor. 8:11-14).

Q/ What about my regular giving?

A/ Your commitment to NEXT should be an amount God leads you  to give over and above your regular tithe and offerings. We must maintain our giving to the operating budget so that day-to-day church operations will be unaffected.

Q/ How should I give?

A/ There are several ways to give.

First, on April 27th you may make a commitment to NEXT for the two-year giving period, which begins on

May 4th. Your commitment may be given in weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even yearly amounts.

Second, on May 4th, you may give a portion of your commitment in a one-time “First Fruits” gift. This cash offering is that part of your commitment that you can give “up front” to help with the initial costs of our new Children’s Building, which is our first priority. Involve your whole family in determining a specific amount for your “First Fruits” offering.

Third, you may give a gift of assets. In addition to monetary gifts, you may give real estate, stocks, bonds, coins, gold, etc. For information or assistance with giving assets please contact Danny Fulton or Jim Wilhite in the church office, 806.457.4900.

Fourth, you may make the church a beneficiary in your will. There are many tools available to you now that can benefit the church and leave an inheritance for your heirs at the same time. We can put you in contact with professionals in this area who can help you as you plan. Contact Jim Wilhite in the church office for assistance, 806.457.4900

Q/ How will I know how much to give?

A/ Pray daily and allow God to open your heart and direct you about your commitment. Through prayer and personal assessment, you will know what to give. Again, your gift, whatever the amount, should be over and above your regular giving. To split our current giving between the recurring operating expenses and the new construction would endanger our ability to minister in the present.

Q/ Will my contribution be made public?

A/ Absolutely not. Only the total amount of all the commitments received will be announced on “First Fruits” Sunday, May 4th.
